PRIMA® TIME CODE:

1. Go to the COMMON menu

2. Descend into the menu branch ASY ADATA

3. Within ASY ADATA, set:

DSP RATE to [38400]

•MUX MODE to [MUX]

4. Go back up to ANC DATA, then go to the right several options to TIME CODE

5. Descend into ON/OFF and select [ON]

6. While transmitting/receiving SMPTE, you can optionally monitor either the time code you are sending to the Prima (by choosing [INPUT]) or the time code you are
receiving from the far end Prima (by choosing [OUTPUT])

7. When the SMPTE session is over, it’s good practice to turn the TIME CODE parameter back to [OFF]. Otherwise you’ll lose the small amount bandwidth required by the SMPTE option in subsequent non-time code sessions.

Notes:

(1) The time code option will only utilize 2.4 kb/s of the 38.4 kb/s that have been allotted on the AUX band. The reason the extra bandwidth needs to be "allocated" is to ensure that no buffering occurs.

(2) Time code will always be transmitted in time with the audio, potentially eliminating the need for an offset.

(3) According to Musicam USA, if a Sony or a Lynx time code device is used, the +/- leads may need to be reversed to make the Prima happy.
