ISDN Connectivity
* If Pro-Link display reads "Inactive":
(1) check wiring from wall jack to the appropriate external NT1
(2) check wiring from NT1 to "S" interface on Pro-Link
(3) check the NT1 "status" light
(a) slow flash = problem linking to Pro-Link
(b) fast flash = problem linking to central office
* If Pro-Link display reads "Channel Active (Initialising)":
(1) power cycle the Pro-Link (but not the DMS100), forcing it to reestablish its connection to the central office
(2) check SPID configuration by hitting "Set", choosing option #4, then choosing #4 again. Look at the SPID for each affected line, checking for inconsistencies.
(3) make sure that each line from the wall jacks correspond to the proper "S" positions on the rear of the Pro-Link
Difficulty Dialing
(1) make sure the remote side is powered up, with all B-channels "Ready"
(2) verify dial-up numbers
(3) confirm that you can connect to another one of your numbers, e.g. dial B2 from B1, failing which you should immediately power cycle the unit
(4) try force-picking other long distance carriers
(a) 10288 = AT&T
(b) 10333 = Sprint
(c) 10222 = MCI
* Note that if while a call is attempting to connect the display status goes to "Waiting" then the call has failed and the "Esc" button will get you out.
Audio Quality Problems
(1) verify that both sides are at the same ISDN rate (56kbps vs. 64kbps)
(2) verify that the mono/stereo modes of each Pro-Link match
(3) verify that the "TC" and "AUX" toggle switches on both
DSM100s are down (unless the session requires time code)
* Note that anomalies caused by rate mismatches and line synchronization problems don't always manifest themselves uniformly. If line sync problems are at hand, redialing the calls should clear things up. In some cases, force-picking another carrier may help.
