The Team


Thomas

Thomas Scott has served as the Vice-President of Technology of the Company since 1992. From 1985 to 1992, he was Chief Engineer for Skywalker Sound, the post production division of LucasArts/Lucasfilm Ltd. Previously, he was Chief Engineer of The Record Plant and eventually worked in film sound on the picture Apocalypse Now. Tom has been involved with motion pictures since then, being employed at American Zoetrope, Dolby Laboratories and LucasArts as Director of Engineering. During this period Tom received two Oscar Academy Awards for Best Sound on the films The Right Stuff and Amadeus. His last LucasArts project was the supervision of the EditDroid and SoundDroid, revolutionary computer-based picture and sound editing equipment. Previous to the foregoing, he was Chief Engineer and Director of Remote Operations at Wally Heider Recording, one of the first independent recording studios and an engineer with the Peace Corps in Venezuela. Tom is active in numerous professional organizations and standards committees, including the Audio Engineering Society; the Society of Professional Audio Recording Studios; the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and the Society of Motion Picture Television Engineers. Tom is a fellow of the latter Society and currently serves them as Engineering, Director Motion Pictures. Tom earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Tom

Tom Kobayashi, Professor Emeritus, retired as Chief Executive Officer after commanding the post from 1992 to 2000. From June 1992 to July 1998, Tom served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ednet. From 1986 to 1993, he was Vice President and General Manager of Skywalker Sound division of LucasArts. During his tenure at Skywalker, the sending of digital audio over fiber optic telephone lines was developed and the idea for an entertainment digital network was formulated. In 1992, with George Lucas' approval, Tom utilized the technology first developed at Skywalker to found EDN. Previously, he was with Glen Glenn Sound, a major sound recording studio in Hollywood. He began with Glen Glenn in 1964 as Vice President of Finance, later served as Vice President of Business Affairs and Executive Vice President and in 1983 was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer. Tom is a member of the Audio Engineering Society; the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers; the Society of Professional Audio Recording Studios (of which he has been a member of the Board of Governors for over seven years); the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Tom earned a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Southern California.

Harvey

Harvey Louie joined the company in August 1999 as Director of Webcasting Operations. Harvey's professional roots stem from his background in live entertainment production. A summer job at Disneyland turned into a career with Disney for the better part of 20 years, working within the entertainment division.  Over the years, Harvey produced numerous staged events ranging from parades, awards ceremonies, concerts, television specials, theme park grand openings, international press events, trade shows, and film premiers. From there Harvey moved on to many events outside of the Magic Kingdom.  World class international sporting events partnered up with Harvey's talents to produce the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, the 1994 Men's World Cup and the ever so popular 1999 Women's World Cup Soccer Tournament.  Other spectacular events have included the Super Bowl Half-Time Show, Three Tenors Concert at Dodger Stadium, Stevie Wonder at The Plaza in New York, the 35th Anniversary Celebration for MIT's Lab for Computer Science and a whole slew of industrial events for Silicon Valley's finest. One of Harvey's favorite memories was starting out as a parade float driver at Disneyland driving the "Pete's Dragon" unit in the Main Street Electrical Parade. Then 20 years later reprising that same role in that very same parade and float unit down New York's 5th Avenue for the world film premier of Disney's "Hercules" animated feature in New York City's Times Square.

Erin
Erin Cooksley, Director of Operations, been with ednet since 1994, initially serving in the capacity of scheduling bridging sessions. In 2001, she was promoted to Operations Director overseeing all operations and technical support. Erin previously hails from Portland, Oregon where she worked as an actor in theater, local commercial, radio and film. Erin earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Portland State University.
