CDQPrima 220
The CDQPrima 220, the mid-range of the CDQ Prima family, is the most mature of the reliable technology first introduced ten years ago, and
proven in the famous CDQ 2000 and CDQ 1000 models. This is the most flexible
of all the codecs we supply. ["Psst: Maybe you need a simpler codec? Consider the Prima LT, below." ednet] The Prima 220 comes with both analog and AES/EBU digital
audio I/O. The two-rack unit CDQPrima 220 is modular, and can be supplied
with additional ISDN terminal adapter cards for up to 384kBit audio, and you
can add a timecode card, or an opto/relay card to turn on and off parallel
controlled devices and tallies. For specialized broadcast applications, you
can send the same audio to up to six separate locations. Nearly every
parameter of the terminal adapter and codec can be tweaked in the extensive,
tree structured, set up menus. The CDQPrima 220 is truly an audio codec
toolkit for even the most discriminating audio engineer.

FAQs When did ednet start its
MPEG network service?
In mid 1993, ednet acquired Digital Patch Systems, a small audio
network of about a dozen studios utilizing Switched 56 data lines. These
studios had expressed the need for this capability in order to free
themselves of the cumbersome process of using phone patches and the expensive
alternative of using satellite transmission.
What is the audio compression standard used in these encoders and
decoders?
MPEG Layer II compression is the most widely used standard around the
world. ednet has built its MPEG-based networking system utilizing
both the Telos Zephyr and the MUSICAM USA CDQ2000 and Prima series of codecs.
Telos has worked hard to make its Zephyr totally compatible with these and
other MPEG II codecs.
ednet is an authorized distributor for each of these fine
manufacturers.
Are ednet and other MPEG-equipped studios using identical codecs?
Yes. Audio codecs such as the Telos and Musicam Prima series all produce
totally compatible digital audio.
